About Us

It was 1989. A group of five young and happening barristers opened a new firm of lawyers.

They wanted to create a specialist group of court lawyers who could provide clients with excellence in representation for criminal, family and road traffic and transport cases. This is exactly what the barristers at Hobson Chambers have done over the last 25 years.

Five of our members have gone on to become judges and you will find our names in important cases reported in the law books.

Originally in Ponsonby then at premises in Hobson Street, around the corner from the district court, now we are at number 2 Kitchener Street overlooking Albert Park and the university, closer to the high court.

We have never advertised our services. Preferring to let our reputation speak for itself. Our recommendation has been by word of mouth through previous clients and others who work in the law or have heard about us.

How have we done it? Our name has been built on excellence through ability experience and integrity. Our fees are reasonable and the service is personal. All work is undertaken by the barrister you instruct never by a junior lawyer you don’t know.
